Appointment to the Board of the National Oil Reserves Agency (NORA)

The Minister for Communications, Climate Action & Environment invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who consider they possess the skills and experience necessary to join the Board of NORA.

Specifically, candidates should demonstrate one or more of the following:
- Senior executive experience and knowledge of energy production and supply industries;
- Extensive expertise at a senior executive level in an oil or oil related industry;
- Experience, knowledge and an interest in energy security, and /or
- Compliance with EU Directives and national legislation in relation to reduction of carbon emissions.


In additional, candidates should demonstrate evidence of:

- Commercial skills in a related industry;
- Sound business judgement;
- Excellent communications skills;
- An ability to bring a regional and rural perspective to the considerations of the Board.

The Minister shall have regard to regional representation and the desirability for gender balance on the Board as the Minister considers appropriate and determines from time to time when making appointments.

In accordance with Section 14 of the National Oil Reserves Agency Act, 2007, the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, appoints members to the Board of NORA.

Under Section 14 of the National Oil Reserves Agency Act, 2007 persons shall, in the Minister’s opinion, have experience and competence in one or more of the following areas;
- Oil or oil related industries;
- Chemical or chemical related industries;
- Finance;
- Economics;
- Legal matters; or
- Energy production and supply industries.
