Appointments to the Board of the National Cancer Registry Ireland

The Minister for Health invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill two upcoming vacancies on the National Cancer Registry Board.

Essential

Candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience, under one of the following areas:
(a) Quality Assurance and Data Management

Candidates wishing to be considered for appointment to this category must demonstrate in their application evidence of:

• extensive recent, relevant professional experience, at an appropriately senior level, in the area of Quality Assurance and Organisational Data Management;
and/or
• Extensive, recent, relevant professional experience in data management, including data sharing and data protection;

b)  Data Sharing and Data Protection
Candidates wishing to be considered for appointment to this category must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience in at least two of the following:

• A demonstrable understanding of the public sector environment and data governance in the public sector. 
• Extensive experience in the areas of data protection, GDPR and ethics both within and outside the public sector
• Understanding of the Data Sharing and Governance Act 2019 and the Public Service Data Strategy 2019 - 2023

Desirable

In addition to the essential requirements above, it is desirable that candidates would have :
• Relevant experience at an appropriately senior level, particularly in the areas of promoting openness and transparency, strategic planning and innovation;
• Public Health Medicine experience;
• Previous board/corporate governance experience;
• Knowledge of the health sector and/or cancer services ;
• An understanding of the public sector environment, in particular the accountability structures, and current public sector reform initiatives.
• Relevant experience in risk management
