Appointments to the Board of Sport Ireland

The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates to fill three positions on the Board of Sport Ireland

Essential

(i) Estate and Facilities Management experience (1 position)

In order to implement the vision of a world class environment at the Sport Ireland Campus as it continues to expand, and with the development of a new Campus Master Plan with functionally suitable facilities for sports and a safe pleasant environment, applications are sought from individuals who will assist with the objective of providing expert sports facilities management services.

Candidates for this position should have experience in the strategic and operational management of estates and associated facilities in the public or private sector.  This should include knowledge of the strategic planning process, facilities and building management life cycle and the day-to-day management of such facilities.

(ii) Sporting perspective (2 positions)

Candidates must have significant demonstrable active involvement in sport which would indicate a depth and breadth of knowledge of the challenges facing the sector and demonstrates a substantial contribution and/or track record of achievement in the sector.

Desirable for all roles:

• Relevant experience in risk management;
• Previous board/corporate governance experience and knowledge of Government policy and procedures;
• Expertise in the area of marketing and branding;
• A demonstrable interest in sport;
• Knowledge of sustainability/climate actions;
• Knowledge of the Irish language.
